Offline conversions: how to bring CRM sales into Google Ads
When selling services, the form is not the sale. The customer fills in a contact form, then there is a call, a meeting, a quote and sometimes, weeks later, a close. If Google Ads only sees the form, it will optimise for more forms, good or bad.
Offline conversions fix that: they tell Google Ads which leads became customers.
What offline conversions are
They are results that happen outside the website (in your CRM, by phone or in a meeting) and are imported into Google Ads linked to the original click. The platform then knows which searches, ads and audiences bring real customers.
How the sale is matched to the click
The classic way is to store Google's click identifier (GCLID) with the lead in your CRM and send it back when the sale closes.
Another option is enhanced conversions for leads, which uses hashed lead data (such as email) to make the match without relying on the click identifier.
How they are imported
There are several routes, from manual to automatic:
- ✓Uploading a file in the Google Ads interface.
- ✓Scheduled uploads from a spreadsheet.
- ✓Native integrations in some CRMs.
- ✓An automated workflow (for example with n8n) sending each closed sale to the Google Ads API.
Which stages to import
Not just the final sale. Importing intermediate stages too (qualified lead, meeting held, quote sent) gives the platform more signals, faster, especially if you close only a few sales a month.
Bear in mind conversions must be imported within the configured conversion window, so very long sales cycles need planning.
What does it cost to set up?
It depends on your CRM and how information is recorded today. We include it in the Google Ads setup, which starts from €390 (plus VAT where applicable); if it needs a custom integration with your CRM, that is quoted separately once we see the detail.
Questions about offline conversions: how to bring CRM sales into Google Ads
You need somewhere to record which leads become customers. A CRM is ideal, but you can start with something simpler.
Contact data is sent hashed and user consent must be respected. We set it up in line with GDPR.
Yes. Both have conversions APIs and accept CRM results with the same approach.
